Subject: Eurasian Precept Leaders Face Trial for their Faith

Six Precept leaders faced an angry court yesterday for holding Church meetings in Uzbekistan:

Sergey Khripunov
Nikolai Shevchenko
Ruslan Aminov
Nikolai Nam
Edik Seitzalilov
Sergei Coi

Sergey and his team appeared in court and waited hours for the judge. He didn’t show, so the trial date was postponed (again) to July 26. When Sergey asked why they keep changing dates they responded with a harsh "We can change up to ten times if we want to!" (He thinks it’s possible the secret police don’t know how to handle this situation because of pressure from the West.)

Still, secret police continue to interrogate and harass people from the church Bible study group. They’re threatened both on the phone and in the streets. Some go so far as to say "We’ll destroy you!" to pressure them to give up and disband. Verbal threats are followed up with physical actions: Sergey’s car was stolen and wrecked last week.

But the team is determined to stay strong. They’re actually thankful to God for allowing them to go to trial – which they see as just another witnessing opportunity. Sergey senses the prayers of the saints and asked us to personally thank all of you who are remembering their afflictions and praying for them in this Muslim-dominant country with government officials that have gone on record saying “No Muslim born should become a Christian”!

XXXXX

Please pray for their protection and for God’s regeneration of local authorities. Remember Agrippa’s words to Paul when he stood trial: “In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian” (Acts 26:28). He may have said this tongue in cheek, but nothing is impossible with our God.

What a miracle it would be if His Spirit descended on that very courtroom on the 26th. With your prayers and God’s Word, it can be a great opportunity for Sergey, his team, and Precept.
