Agape

Agape is the greek word for "love" when the Bible exhorts believers to exercise. See 1 Cor 13 among many other chapters..

:edit:
I used to think that this love that was the way God loves us and couldn't be achieved by us, but the word that Paul uses in Col 1:4 (love which you have for all the saints) for the word 'love' is actually Agape, meaning we are capable of doing it!

Though never in the perfect sense of the word, we are to strive and will ourselves to agape each other!

What Liang?! You mean you didn't know?! Well not really, I didn't but now I know! Better late than never, isn't it? .)
:edit:

I like what Cecilia Perh (Precept Bible Study) said about Agape.. Agape is not a love of feelings, it is a love of the will. I like! I love.

Primary One

If one wants to proceed to Primary Two, one has to...

Why, pass the exams of course!

Manrong shared somethings at yesterday's CAMY Prayer Time about the state of things and the state of the people in the ministry.

It seems like we've been stuck in Primary One for very long, little errs that were made many yesterdays ago are still being committed today, things like sms-ing during service/practice, chit chatting incessantly during sermon time (cardinal, I think), punctuality!

The crux of being punctual, Manrong said is not about being late or whatever. It is how much we mean our words! It should be a reflection of how God means His words. Manrong cited an example of God asking us to do a certain thing and then later He tells us he's changed His mind (To that extent lah).

And so when we say we'll arrive at 11am, we jolly well do it, if we cannot, then we must tell them otherwise, instead of giving people false hopes.

You know how when you meet some of your friends and they tell you to meet at 1:23pm you know they'll arrive at 1:53pm. You know that sort?

So well if you read this and you weren't at the meeting, maybe you could sort this out on your side, yes? While I'll sort it out on my side, let's all move on to Primary Two! .)

Like & Love

This was a comment on my friend's blog, and since I haven't update for a looong time, I thought I'd just put up my two cents! Enjoy..

How do you define being in love? Is even a little hint of being in like, being in love? Don't try to define it, embrace it!

C S Lewis said ...

"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal..."

I know how sometimes we're so jaded and we feel we can never love again, like never. but i believe we were made with a lot of capacity for forgiveness and for love. You see God cannot ask us to do something (love & forgive the way He does) that he requires of us if He didn't made us capable of doing it. (Or providing us some means to do it) Surely, we were made to love and be loved!

But then Man (Man as in Mankind) is insufficient, imperfect and fallible, and whenever Man can mess up, he will! You can almost count on it.
So we were made to love, man no doubt but also God (I believe) that's why we were made immortal beings, our Spirit lasts even after our bodies pass. Reminds me of a song by the band PLUMB, God-shaped Hole! .)

And yOu, yeS yoU, if yoU're reading thiS... i loooove yoU! .D

Luke The Physician

I just love the dignity of his writing, very nice! Stylo. Or as Jeanie says, "Very seh leh!".

Luke 1:1-4
1 Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, 3 it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; 4 so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught

True Faith?

Friday night's Prayer & Power night was just all right for me, just all right. Vincent Leoh (the General Superintendent of The Assemblies of God Malaysia) preached on Faith and he preached way past 9 leaving only a little time for prayer.

He had some relevant points on how Faith should be exercised but I didn't agree with all the points. I also felt there wasn't enough grounding, he also talked about claiming thing in faith but warned the congregation about claiming healing in faith, and to exercise extreme caution when doing that.

Some of the points were ambiguously sounding like Word Faith stuff, not outright, could be implicit or not at all. Perhaps it could have been made clearer when he was preaching.
You see, Faith is like treading on quicksand you can't make it out to be more or less of what the Bible says it is! Or like Cecilia talks about doctrine, balancing a few marbles on a totally flat tray, tilt too much to either sides all the marbles will fall to the ground!

O God, how we need discernment in our churches today!

I do not know the stand of the A/G churches on the Word Faith preachers but there are some events in Singapore that feature these people, and some of them involve the A/G churches.
Pray for the modern churches today! If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to start going to Bible Study! A few of us are going to one very solid every Tuesday! Ask me or Jenn today!

I leave you with these verses!

2 Peter 2:1-3
1But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

Have We No Urgency?

Yesterday's Prayer & Power was okay... Okay only. This dude, Vincent (Liao I think, he's the general superintendant of the A/G Churches in Malaysia) preached about faith. I felt there wasn't enough grounding, I darnoe, he's like a typical pentecostal preacher, full of fire and emotion, perhaps lacking in grounding, in the Word.

But hey, don't take my word for it, go listen to him preach tonight (Sat Evening) and tomorrow's morning services!

He also touched sensitive areas about claiming things in faith, but was cautious to say that when you are claiming healing, you have to be very sure what God is speaking to you.

This faith thing is treading on very soft sensitive quicksand, stand still and undermine what faith can do and you'll sink, but try too hard to make so much of faith, so much so that it is deviant of what the Bible says it is (like some Word Faith preachers teach), then we'll sink as well!

O God! We need discernment, our leaders need discernment! We need to get back to the Word!

The prayer meeting was okay for me because I was there prepared to pray and then there was a preacher who preached till past nine! Come on! It's a prayer meeting, no prayer no power! Gggghhh..

I'm also slightly irked by people who can't seem to get it right, it's prayer and power, not power and prayer, not power and praise or whatever combination of christian jargon alliteration!

No prayer no power! Ok now I've gotten it out, I can relax. .) Sorry hah. Why am I apologising, it's my blog! .P

Why!

Why you all never comment! Huh!?
