A Reply to Joey's Random Yawps

Since Joey keeps saying that I don't update when I tell him to update, like pot calling kettle black and since he says that I don't read into the details of his blogging, I have decided to reply to his random yawp blow by blow.

Umm yeah.

It'll do you good before reading this post to head to Joey's blog to read his "random yawp" episode five.

Eh Joe how come you type the headlines of your posts without any capital letters? House style issit?

Anyway..

Work:
I think it's good that we keep such an open outlook to work especially when we are [o]verworked, underpaid, underappreciated", knowing that in all that we do we do it as unto the Lord! And many times I fail to see that you know? But I'm still trying each day, to renew myself and my mind to keep it fresh and open and be a good testimony at work.

I wanna share this verse with you bro, (and readers):

(Colossians 3:17 ESV)
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

On a side note it is 88 more days till my ORD! Woot!

Hong Kong:
You missed out the camera, or maybe you didn't set out to buy it in the first place? This post on Hong Kong is like the Author's Preface or something, or like a really meaningful quote at the start of a book usually by someone famous and passed away or a verse from the bible or something but you said, "I have bought everything I've set out to buy, and more." Which is kinda catchy and meaningful.

Thanks for the Mango Collon and Shark's Fin Pretz!

Family:
So sweet! I sometimes wish I have siblings, and I do! A brother like you, where to find? When Pastor Benny spoke yesterday about with intimacy comes authencity, and I thought of you! Yeah. And of course we all know Maisie is a gem!

O and plan a them for your family dinners for each month! Next month, Mexican, followed by Italian or something, haha.

TeamR-age:
That's good to hear bro, I have to drop by sometime to kick some balls but first I gotta at least be able to run the field without dropping dead and having my lungs collapse. Right now I'll try to remember the team in my prayers.

Ministry:
You know bro, I really admire your passion for the youth ministry and it is something I'm praying to God for, that is, more love for His people, especially those younger than us which we can big brother. And I also wanna teach cell leh, haha when you take a cell, can I guest teach? .D

In Bob Kauflin's blog he listed one reason why people should attend the Worship Conference his ministry was organising, I quote,

"Mark Altrogge will again be giving the announcements. Up until now, you may have thought of announcements as a boring but necessary part of events like this. Mark will change all that. Although many know him for his songwriting, it's his world class announcement gift that sets him apart. Those of you who have attended past conferences know what I'm talking about. It was quite a coup getting Mark this year, but fortunately he was able to take a break from his world tour, where he's promoting his new book "Announcements - Key to Revival.”

Hehe, I thought the quote was quite funny, announcements, the key to revival. Heh.

The Hopes:
The Hopes rock, like totally. So much love and loving! Will miss out this Friday's teaching by you but I'm sure it won't be the last!

Studying:
Yes I agree that Pastor Benny's was great, 'cept when he cited Mother Teresa as an example of a godly person displaying God's mercy, I somehow cannot take it when people use her or other catholics as examples, you can call me sectarian or biased or a rebel.

And I am really glad that your love of the Word has been re-ignited, may we all want to know God and His Word!

Love Life:
,P

I think I was hardly a silent reader, I had lots to say and this is a really good way to blog, blogging off other people's blog, but I had that much to say about your post and I didn't have to think like super hard.

Theology Without Application

"Another early conviction that has never waned is our commitment to the local church. Therefore, our primary interest from the beginning was not merely how to articulate our doctrine, but how our doctrine should be applied in the lives of individuals throughout our churches." - Excerpt from the faq of Sovereign Grace Ministries.

If we know a lot and yet do nothing with that our theology is nothing. I have to watch my own life even as I'm learning theology and doctrines.

Unless this knowledge changes me, then this knowledge is almost as good as nothing. Like Rachel says on her msn, it's not about knowing the truth but how the truth revolutionizes our lives.

Yummy Love in My Tummy

Fried onions, chopped sichuan vegetables, lettuce, ginger, tomatoes, fish, scallops!

All these went into my fish porridge for a Saturday afternoon lunch! How awesome is that!

Who knows my mum is a great cook?

Ha, you're missing out if you don't!

Inerrancy and Infallibility of Scripture

"We believe the Bible is the Word of God written; it is the revelation of the truths of God conveyed by inspiration through His servants to us. As such, it is infallible and without error." - excerpt from Assemblies of God's (AG) Official Position Paper on the Inerrancy of Scripture

I was glad to find that the AG's Position Paper spoke strongly about the inerrancy and infallibility of scripture. Yet I wonder in the many sermons that I have heard pastors from the AG church, I recall one sermon preached along these lines.

In my many interactions with other pastors, I wonder how much this of them hold strongly to the belief of the infallibility and the inerrancy of the Bible.

It was a problem that has rampaged the church through the centuries and as long as there are opponents of the Christian faith, even in Spurgeon's time there was the so-called "Downgrade Controversy".

"Though many doctrines came to be questioned, such as eternal punishment and the deity of Christ, the major issue above all else was the inspiration and absolute reliability of Scripture." - excerpt from Paul Mizzi's essay on Spurgeon and the Downgrade controversy

I don't think there's anything new today and the authority and intergrity of the Scriptures are constantly under attack and we as Bible believing Christians must make a stand to defend the Scriptures. (1 Pet 3:15)

We cannot and must not, for the sake of denominational unity water down the Gospel!

“If an act of sin would increase my usefulness tenfold, I have no right to do it; and if an act of righteousness would appear like to destroy all my apparent usefulness, I am yet to do it. It is yours and mine to do the right though the heavens fall, and follow the command of Christ whatever the consequences may be” - Charles Spurgeon

Doctrinal Purity in the Assembly of God Denomination

John Wimber, until his recent death, taught how to do signs and wonders and how to prophesy, and charged a stiff fee for attendance at such seminars. And some of the techniques the Vineyards still use, such as moving one’s hands slowly back and forth a few inches from a subject’s body to feel for hot spots to see where God is at work, or letting one’s mind go blank and speaking forth whatever thought comes, open the door to the occult. Biblical prophets never learned techniques.

These people gave what is called “present truth,” or, “What is the Spirit saying today?” These utterances had authority equal to the Bible.

I got this quotes from this article. It's titled ADDRESS TO THE DOCTRINAL PURITY COMMISSION, check it out, I believe the author is an ordained Assembly of God minister. I think our church today might be joining into this so called "latter rain" movement.
