In one of C.S Lewis's book (i forgot which one issit) he talks about joy the best way i ever read a person saying it. He didn't write joy as a feeling or emotion, but rather the desire for God. I guess this should be our paradigm :)
Hi. Hope you don't mind me dropping in and putting in my two cents? Joy is something that God gives freely in the same way that He gives salvation- by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-9) There is only one Scripture in the entire KJV Bible that has the phrase "joy and peace" in it: "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." Romans 15:13
You get joy and peace by believing and claiming it through prayer. But make sure you are in submission to His Will so that there is nothing to hinder His work in you.
I've been there, and expected God to give me that "peace and joy" because of all "I" was doing for Him. I was serving Him, witnessing, reading my Bible, praying, etc. and thought I deserved it. Then He made me realize that my works meant nothing. Just as works can't save me, works can't "earn" joy and peace. He gives it freely.

joy is a state of mind, a mentality, an attitude. happiness is a temporary emotion caused by situations.
joy is Jesus owning you?! :)
those are definitions, but does anyone experience it?
Yea, I hardly see Christians so full of joy that is described in the Bible.
i live it. i am confident of saying that.

I hope this helps.
