Work that pleases the Lord

Colossians 3:22-24
22 Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

What a challenge it is to work heartily and to do it as for the Lord! I don't know how that works, because I am obviously doing the work for man, but if the Bible tells me that I am doing it for God, then I am!

I grumble that I get paid so little, then I'm reminded that at least I am paid! The slaves of Paul's time had little or no money and freedom at all with their whole life sold to slavery!

O Father, forgive me for my complains and grumbling! Help me do work as for you, my Lord!

Philippians 2:14-15
14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing;
15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,

In the NIV it says so what we may shine as stars! By our work attitude the world will know that we are children of God in the midst of this age of hypocrisy!

We must of course do it with sincerity of heart as said in Colossians 3:22! I hope you'll do your work heartily! I hope that I will too! Pray for me, I'll be praying for you!

Baybeats Again

This year's Baybeats' chief difference from the past years festival is that I was there with my darling girlfriend, Sharon! Thank you for going with me and join me with my nonsense and singalongs!

You see if you go to the February Archives of this blog, you will realise that the songs I sang to Sharon were performed at the festivals and singing the songs into her ear were just.. mmmm.. so nice!

Anyhow this year's headlining artistes were super, especially Brandtson and Copeland!

Now that I know Brandtson's songs, it was better than the first time I saw them in '02, I get to sing a long and they did a mean cover of JT's Cry Me A River!

Copeland, well Copeland was just sooopa! I was blown away by the vocalist and their tightness, foooowahh! Singing along with Daniel was really fun!

But after the display of human greatness of sight and sound, I wonder what has been achieved and I hope that interpersonal bridges have been built and strengthened, and the Christian bands that played, I pray that they've touched lives with their songs!

It's sad how something the scale of Baybeats gets so much funding from secular organisations like Volkswagen and Esplanade, that patrons don't have to pay!

But at Sonic Fest the tickets are 20++! I really don't know how it's gonna work as an evangelistic tool, what's the problem? Is the church not unified in agreement how it should reach out to this generation? What is the BEST way? Evangelistic gigs? Or a BIG praise and worship session at indoor stadium? What's the point of FOP ah? Too much money right?

Subject: Eurasian Precept Leaders Face Trial for their Faith

Six Precept leaders faced an angry court yesterday for holding Church meetings in Uzbekistan:

Sergey Khripunov
Nikolai Shevchenko
Ruslan Aminov
Nikolai Nam
Edik Seitzalilov
Sergei Coi

Sergey and his team appeared in court and waited hours for the judge. He didn’t show, so the trial date was postponed (again) to July 26. When Sergey asked why they keep changing dates they responded with a harsh "We can change up to ten times if we want to!" (He thinks it’s possible the secret police don’t know how to handle this situation because of pressure from the West.)

Still, secret police continue to interrogate and harass people from the church Bible study group. They’re threatened both on the phone and in the streets. Some go so far as to say "We’ll destroy you!" to pressure them to give up and disband. Verbal threats are followed up with physical actions: Sergey’s car was stolen and wrecked last week.

But the team is determined to stay strong. They’re actually thankful to God for allowing them to go to trial – which they see as just another witnessing opportunity. Sergey senses the prayers of the saints and asked us to personally thank all of you who are remembering their afflictions and praying for them in this Muslim-dominant country with government officials that have gone on record saying “No Muslim born should become a Christian”!

XXXXX

Please pray for their protection and for God’s regeneration of local authorities. Remember Agrippa’s words to Paul when he stood trial: “In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian” (Acts 26:28). He may have said this tongue in cheek, but nothing is impossible with our God.

What a miracle it would be if His Spirit descended on that very courtroom on the 26th. With your prayers and God’s Word, it can be a great opportunity for Sergey, his team, and Precept.

Pray Saints Pray!

R-age is sending out a team to East Asia tomorrow, do pray for them as they embark on this mission for God!

Pray for wisdom, favour, and protection and as the Spirit leads or what has been impressed on your heart by the missionaries! Pray even now as you read this post! Cover them with prayer!

The backlines have to be supportive if not the frontlines will not stand, sending them out with the necessary finances is one thing but continuing the support is another and as crucial to the support of their mission!

It's Not Over Not Yet

Our passion for evangelism is not over not till Jesus comes back!

7 precious souls received Jesus Christ as their Lord & Saviour, 90% of the 80 over people who attended the gig are interested in knowing more about God! Pray for these precious souls you, yes you reading this now, say a little pray or a long one, just pray!

But these are just statistics, if just one person was saved then this effort is all worth it. No, as long as the unsaved hear the gospel then it's all worth it, it doesn't matter if anyone receive Jesus Christ there and then (though it leads us to question the methods employed).

But really, this is a good method to present the gospel in a non-confrontational method, right?

No I think it was just the tone of the message, the message is still the same, we need Jesus because the world simply cannot offer what we were meant for. As much as we search high and low for acceptance, peace and all those things to make us feel good, we'll never find it until we find Jesus, or I like to say, until we let Jesus find us.

We need to do more gigs like this, we need to reach out!
